|Perfect Number of Pages to Order||5-10 Pages|
International ShakeOut Day has been observed on the third Thursday of October since 2008 (for additional information, check shakeout.org (Links to an external site.)). This is a day for individuals, institutions, and governments to assess their emergency readiness and engage in a Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. The ShakeOut is co-hosted by the United States Geological Survey (USGS (Links to an external site. ), the National Science Foundation (NSF (Links to an external site. ), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA (Links to an external site. ), and the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC (Links to an external site.)) feel free to visit any of these websites for more information about the ShakeOut.
The Earthquake Country Alliance (ECA (Links to an external site.)), which collaborates with these organizations, launched the Great ShakeOut in Southern California in 2008 and coordinates the ShakeOut’s participation by California organizations and individuals. We’ll use the Earthquake Country website to learn more about how to prepare for earthquakes on a personal level.
Please provide the following information in response to this prompt:
Earthquake Country has identified seven measures that we can all follow to prepare for a huge earthquake and survive it. Visit https://www.earthquakecountry.org/sevensteps/ for more information. (This link will take you to an external site.) to learn more about these seven steps.
Steps 1, 2, 3, or 4 are available. To understand more about the step you selected, click on the link.
Consider how many of the suggested steps in this phase have been implemented in your family or home as you read. What could you improve upon?
Make a strategy for improving your preparation in this area. Divide your list into three categories: 1) things you can do right now (at no cost), 2) actions that may require purchases or additional planning (at a modest cost), and 3) actions that may need to wait (a bit more work or cost).
Talk to your family or housemates about the plan you’ve proposed. If you live alone, feel free to talk about your plans with friends or other family members. Inquire about what they think are the most practical things you can take right now to make your home secure.
Your finalized strategy should be shared with your students. Give yourself a deadline for fulfilling some of your plan’s objectives. Share any questions or anxieties you have about sticking to your preparedness plan (or earthquakes in general!)
Please respond to the TWO additional replies that I will send you once you choose this question with the following content once you finish the prompt:
What do you think of their preparedness strategy?
Do you have any recommendations for me? Is it possible for you to address any of their issues or worries?
Offer suggestions, provide links to products or useful websites, or ask follow-up questions
