Tips for completing this assignment successfully:
To assist you in developing a well-developed persuasive argument, carefully review Monroe’s Motivated Sequence in your class notes (approximately 3/4 of the way down the page).

Before you begin, make sure you have a look at the grading rubric. This is a crucial aspect of your success.
Finally, use the offered outline to aid in the completion of your speech. Make sure you do some research and use facts and data to back up your main claims!

You can submit your speech in one of three formats: written, video, or audio.

To submit a written speech, follow these steps:

Make sure to follow the “Success Tips” listed above.

Include an APA-style title page with your speech.

Your speech should be no more than five minutes long, or 700-1000 words long.

To help you design your speech, use Monroe’s Motivated Sequence in the accompanying framework to create an introduction, three main points, and a conclusion.

Use the concepts, tactics, and guidelines from the course to write your speech.

Make an APA-style reference list with all of the sources you used to find information.

Save your assignment as a Word (.doc or.docx) document and upload it to the Assignment Folder on the Assignment:7 page.

When submitting your file, include the target audience for your speech in the Comments section.

 

To submit an audio or video speech, follow these steps:

You must talk clearly if you choose one of these alternatives.

All elements of your speech must be included (introduction, body, and conclusion).

The terms “introduction,” “body,” and “conclusion” should not be spoken aloud. Instead, you’ll prepare and deliver your speech using the framework supplied so that the listener can easily recognize the components of your speech when they listen for them and hear your transitions. You are free to submit your outline, but you are not required to.

Additionally, if one of these options is chosen, sources must be referenced orally. “According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics…” or “Bill Gates remarked….’ in the February 2016 issue of Forbes Magazine.” In addition, include an APA-style reference list with your paper.

Use of Sources (worth a maximum of 20% of the total points). Zero points:  Student failed to include citations and/or references. Or the student failed to submit a final paper. 5 out 20 points:  Sources are seldom cited to support statements and/or format of citations are not recognizable as APA 6th Edition format. There are major errors in the formation of the references and citations. And/or there is a major reliance on highly questionable. The Student fails to provide an adequate synthesis of research collected for the paper. 10 out 20 points:  References to scholarly sources are occasionally given; many statements seem unsubstantiated.  Frequent errors in APA 6th Edition format, leaving the reader confused about the source of the information. There are significant errors of the formation in the references and citations. Structure of the Paper (worth 10% of total points) Zero points:  Student failed to submit the final paper. 3 points out of 10: Student needs to develop better formatting skills. The paper omits significant structural elements required for and APA 6th edition paper. Formatting of the paper has major flaws.
