Ways to Develop in the Best Possible Way Logo
Scenario
You are the manager of a team of ten software developers working on a new application for your Raleigh, North Carolina-based company, Optimum Way Development. Your company recently purchased a smaller software firm in San Jose, California. You’ve been notified that five workers from this newly purchased company will be joining your team, and that all five will be moving to Raleigh.
You arrange a phone conference with the five new team members and learn that they are dissatisfied with the impersonal message they received from human resources informing them that they would have to relocate to Raleigh in order to keep their jobs; no one indicated enthusiasm for joining the team. You also learn during this talk that several of the new team members have more education and experience than the people on your present team. You observe that most of these team members are presumably older than you based on the dialogue, although all of the present Raleigh team
members are younger.
Following the call, one of your current senior team members approaches you about rumors that the Raleigh team will be needed to teach the new San Jose team members. They’ve heard that job cuts are in the works, and they’re worried that new workers will end up filling the void.
The director in charge of your division has asked you to write and present a recommendation report outlining your intentions for resolving any current or potential disputes on your team. The director has a master’s degree in computer science and has worked in the technology industry for over a decade.
Directions
You have been asked to write and present your conflict management plan for this project in order to detect and resolve existing and prospective disputes. You are also responsible for keeping the development of the new application moving forward by meeting set milestones, in addition to recognizing and resolving problems.
You’ll achieve this by creating a recommendation report and accompanying presentation. Your director is the target audience for both deliverables. Remember to employ communication tactics and platforms that are suited for your audience’s preferences and motives while you prepare your report and presentation.
The following should be included in both deliverables, which should be based on the above scenario:
To begin, describe the software application’s primary components, such as the backdrop, target audience, functions, and features.
Then, for the team, clarify the areas of contention. Make careful to include relevant causes as well as their potential consequences.
Clearly state what you want to happen as a result of any dispute resolution actions.
What is your preferred method of resolving this conflict?
What is the “ideal” scenario?
Recommend action actions for dealing with potential problem areas, along with a clear description of how the steps contribute to conflict resolution.
Only utilize dialogue to deliver the appropriate major concepts to the audience during the presentation. Although you will not be giving this presentation on camera, you should compose the accompanying speech in PowerPoint’s speaker’s notes box.
What Should You Submit?
You must submit the following to complete this project:
Report on Recommendations
Your report should be at least two full pages long (excluding the title page), single-spaced, and submitted as a Word or PDF document. Although outside resources are not required, any that are used must be properly mentioned in APA style. This contribution can be made using the Recommendation Report Template.
Your presentation should be prepared in a presentation format (such as PowerPoint) and should include an overview of the main points from the recommendation report. Include the speech that will follow the presentation in the speaker’s notes section of PowerPoint. Although outside resources are not required, any that are used must be properly mentioned in APA style.
