They work with a number of suppliers on a regular basis, who provide them various semi-truck parts to either deliver to other shops or repair at their shop. Freightliner relies heavily on its suppliers to deliver the materials they require to repair semis and deliver the parts that its customers require. Their clients also rely on them for the components and services they provide. If Freightliner does not have the supplies they need, they can locate them elsewhere, although it may not be as convenient as certain areas would prefer. Cummins, Caterpillar, and Detroit are among Freightliner’s suppliers. Because all of the suppliers and consumers are interdependent, their plan is a little hazardous. They will all suffer if one of them goes out of business. Another issue with suppliers is that when a product is not delivered on time, it has an impact on both customers and Freightliner.
This is because the mechanics can’t fix the trucks since the components haven’t arrived, therefore the customers are forced to pay for their trucks to sit in the shop for each hour they are waiting for the parts.
