Below is some stuff to think about while you prepare your Great Speech.
Each speech (public address) must have been given in front of the speaker’s original intended audience. “Sermon on the Mount,” for example, is Biblical Prose, but “Antony’s Funeral Oration” is Shakespearean Drama. The contestant’s analysis should reflect the joy, edification, and challenge of giving a public speech today or in the past.
The introduction must include information about the author/speaker, the topic, the original audience, and the occasion.
Justify your decision to present to this audience during the presentation. This could include things like historical significance, linguistic style, rhetorical strategies, audience appeal, persuasion techniques, and persuasion components. It’s also possible to provide comments on textual accuracy and speaking success. All elements from other sources that are quoted, paraphrased, or summarized must be documented both orally and in writing.
Your material must account for at least 25% of the speech. Analysis and exposition might be sprinkled throughout the presentation or concentrated in just one or a few sections.

In both the written and oral presentation speeches, include a citation acknowledging the speech’s source.
The speech/speaker or topic/concept will be applied to our current lives/situations in the introduction. It will also provide background information on the speaker and the significance of the speech to the audience. The audience should be able to learn about YOU as a speaker, as well as your enthusiasm for this speaker and/or topic, throughout the introduction. The introduction should conclude with a concise thesis statement that sets the tone for the examination of the excellent speech you are giving.
At least four primary components will make up the body of the speech. A rhetorical analysis of a section of the great speech, a memorized or nearly remembered delivery of a portion of the great speech, a visual (audio, visual, or both) of the speech/speaker, and a direct application of the argument to this audience should all be included in the body. In the body of your speech, you have some flexibility in how you present this information.
The conclusion will discuss the speech’s influence and will extend the speech/speaker to a period beyond the original speech’s occurrence.

Use of Sources (worth a maximum of 20% of the total points). Zero points:  Student failed to include citations and/or references. Or the student failed to submit a final paper. 5 out 20 points:  Sources are seldom cited to support statements and/or format of citations are not recognizable as APA 6th Edition format. There are major errors in the formation of the references and citations. And/or there is a major reliance on highly questionable. The Student fails to provide an adequate synthesis of research collected for the paper. 10 out 20 points:  References to scholarly sources are occasionally given; many statements seem unsubstantiated.  Frequent errors in APA 6th Edition format, leaving the reader confused about the source of the information. There are significant errors of the formation in the references and citations.
