Quality Care and Nursing Comment by Melissa Muddell: APA The title of the paper goes here. Since it is the title, it is not considered a level one header, so therefore it should not be bolded
After reviewing the California Nurse Practice Act (NPA) as well as the hospital policies and procedures, we discover that according to the California board of registered nursing, the NPA is the body of the California law that mandates the board to set out the scope of practice as well as the responsibilities of RNs. The code of regulations also specifies the implementations of the law and the NPA is updated annually since it contains the code of regulations as well as the California business and professions code. The code of regulations contains various provisions which include intervention program guidelines as well as general provisions sections that are helpful for a registered nurse to advance in their professions by provision of quality care in accordance to the law and ethics within the care treatment centers (Aiken, Clarke, Sloane, Sochalski, Busse, Clarke & Shamian, 2001). Comment by Melissa Muddell: APA Comment by Melissa Muddell: Run on sentence Comment by Melissa Muddell: While this is a good start, you do not have any mention about hospital policy and procedures nor do you have a thesis or a purpose statement
The laws regulating nursing that arise from the NPA in California are meant to govern the nursing practice in which the practice requires specialized knowledge and independent decision making. The impact this act will have on the professional status of the nurses is very much positive since all registered regardless of their roles, population or specialty are expected to perform competently and up to the standards. The standards are meant to change owing to the dynamics. The hospital policies and the NPA really impact the way care is given to the patients by nurses making the regulations very much important both for the patients and their families (Reinhard, 2001). Comment by Melissa Muddell: Run-on sentence Comment by Melissa Muddell: Omit then place a comma after positive Comment by Melissa Muddell: This does not make sense Comment by Melissa Muddell: How? This does not explain how they impact the way care is given. What does the NPA do and how does the hospital policies work with the NPA to impact the care? Comment by Melissa Muddell: Awkward phrasing remove “very much”
The legal concerns are meant to shape the working environment in which nursing is supposed to be practiced as well as how documents are shared and kept. The California federal and state laws impact positively on the way nursing is practiced. The regulations in the act and policies must conform to the government and private initiatives. The regulations are meant to govern malpractice in nursing practices hence the laws in the act provide an overview of the legal standards of care for the nurses and the impacts of the nursing practice. The main functions of these bodies require that, as mandated in the law, the NPA as well as the hospital policies require the nurses to stop ordinary negligence as well as nursing malpractices that might affect the conduction of nursing practice as provided by the statutes (Reinhard, 2001). Comment by Melissa Muddell: What legal concerns? Comment by Melissa Muddell: comma Comment by Melissa Muddell: this sentence needs to be omitted as it says nothing of substance and does not add to the paper Comment by Melissa Muddell: according to whom? This sentence need a citation, because actually the NPA is the law Comment by Melissa Muddell: what bodies? Comment by Melissa Muddell: I have no idea what exactly this sentence is saying.
A registered nurse must read all the provisions in the act as well as the hospital policies so that they can adhere with the set regulations in the nursing practicum. The legal definition of nursing standard of care is guaranteed in the general nursing knowledge where the registered nurses must treat patients according to the rules and regulations of the nursing practices. Comment by Melissa Muddell: This paragraph does not make sense. I feel you are going around and around and are not saying anything. What is the legal definition of standard of care? Had you actually stated that, then there would be substance. What rules and regulations are you referring to??
Advanced practice nursing seeks to eliminate negligence as a nursing malpractice which is the main function of the NPA as well as the hospital policies which assess and monitor the conduct of these nurses as well as use proper communication strategies to make sure that efficient care is given to these patients (Reinhard, 2001). Comment by Melissa Muddell: What patients? How does hospital policies assess and monitor APNs? Hospital policies cannot monitor anything, they are rules that a nurse must follow
Other functions of NPA and hospital policies are meant to remove any elements of nursing malpractice that might deteriorate the health standards of the community health centers as well as public and private treatment centers. Minimizing the risks of malpractice is therefore every much important after reviewing the NPA as well as the outlined policies that are put in place to protect patients and their families and give them the right to proper and professional treatment by these registered nurses (Hadley, 1989). The policy also talks of the legal considerations which include the privacy act as well as Health Insurance, Portability and Accountability Act that must be embraced by these nurses in their quest of following the ethics in the nursing practicum. Comment by Melissa Muddell: What does this mean? How do hospital policies remove elements of malpractice? Especially in community health centers if they are hospital policies?? Comment by Melissa Muddell: Awkward phrasing Comment by Melissa Muddell: I do not understand what you are trying to say here Comment by Melissa Muddell: What policy? Comment by Melissa Muddell: What nurses are you speaking of?
The act of social networking is therefore very much important since it will impact positively in provision of proper care after adhering to the NPA and the health policies that govern California State. Other acts include the health quality improvement as well as professional practice acts which breed upon the general view of the legal aspects of nursing. The functions of these acts and policies have therefore been outlined to make registered nurses get to know all the information about the rules and regulations that govern nursing practice in California. The major functions of these two entities have therefore impacted positively on the community making it very much possible for improvements in healthcare delivery as well as the adherence to the outlined ethical standards in the nursing practicum (Hadley, 1989). Comment by Melissa Muddell: Awkward phrasing Comment by Melissa Muddell: What does this mean? How will social networking impact the provision of “proper care” Comment by Melissa Muddell: omit Comment by Melissa Muddell: remove
Being that nursing is a very much dynamic field, these policies and the NPA has made it possible to provide very clear legal authority for the functions and procedures that are done by the registered nurses to have some common acceptance in care centers as well as usage. This will help people that come up with potential health problems as well as ensure their safety and comfort in all possible areas ranging from the proper illnesses as well as their family protections (Factor, Whitney, Zywicki, Schuchat, Morin, Phan & Farley, 2000). Comment by Melissa Muddell: omit Comment by Melissa Muddell: omit Comment by Melissa Muddell: omit Comment by Melissa Muddell: omit this and end the sentence after nurses
